About Vikki Thompson Counselling

About Me

My name is Vikki, and I have worked in healthcare for nearly 20 years as a Chiropractor before training as a Counsellor.

Throughout my career, I have worked with a wide range of people, and it has always been important to me that individuals feel heard, understood, and empowered. This experience has shaped my understanding of the connection between physical health, chronic illness, and emotional wellbeing.

My own lived experience - including recovery from an eating disorder and being neurodivergent - deeply informs my work. I aim to offer a compassionate, neuroaffirming space where you feel able to explore your experiences without judgement.

I don’t believe that anyone is a problem that needs fixing. Therapy is an opportunity to understand yourself in a new light, and to move towards a way of living that feels more sustainable, authentic, and aligned with who you are.

Alongside my work, I have a love for teddy bears, football, music, and human bodies.

Therapeutic Approaches

My work is informed by:

  • Transactional Analysis

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Person-Centred Therapy

  • Schema Therapy

I also integrate elements of CBT, narrative therapy, Gestalt, and psychodynamic approaches to create therapy that is flexible and tailored to you.
